A little bit about us
The school comprises of four multi-class mainstream classes and two ASD classes, both of which opened in September 2022.
The additions have made our school a more inclusive and vibrant learning environment.
Our school is complemented by community involvement.
Access to the community MUGA pitch and walking track at the rear of the school is enjoyed by all ages.
We now have lots of space for playing various sports and outdoor activities.
This academic year saw the addition of the community afterschool club ‘Le Chéile‘ where children are walked from our school gate by childcare workers to enjoy sports, culinary, play and reading activities in their new facility.
The school has been awarded various Discovery Primary Science Awards, Green Flag Awards, a Junior Entrepreneur Award, is recognised as a School of Digital Distinction and is currently working towards gaining an Amber Flag.
All these achievements complemented our village being honoured at the National Pride of Place Awards.
The school embraces the Visual Arts Curriculum with enjoyment.
Pupils are exposed to the areas of drawing, painting, clay, print, fabric and fibre, and construction.
We give focus to seasonal occasions and take much inspiration from our surrounding local environment.
Visual art lessons are delivered in our classrooms with various resources available to embrace creativity.
We are proud of the many historical, traditional and local links the school has created throughout time, as well as the strong and steady interpersonal relationship between the school and our whole community.
Our school is progressive in many areas and this reflects in the daily lives of our students and staff. We take into account a holistic view of school life when planning future initiatives and developments and this reflects in positive change that has come about in our school over the past number of years.
School Building
Our school building has undergone many changes since the original classrooms opened in 1940. In 2019 a massive energy retrofit was carried out to enhance the comfort of our school for our students to reduce our school’s carbon footprint.
All of our classrooms are serviced by an air to water heating system with mechanical ventilation units used to maintain healthy air quality across the school. In 2022 we added a new play area and a 200m2 modular building which compromises of four sensory rooms, two classrooms, a SET room and WC and showering facilities. Our main building now hosts a kitchen where all of our children’s hot meals are prepared.
We are currently in the design stages of adding a 450m2 extension to the original school which includes an indoor multi-purpose games area, living skills areas, soft play areas along with and sensory spaces such as sensory rooms and gardens. Most recently the school has been painted and many of our rooms have received colourful makeovers with both colour schemes and furniture being replaced.
School Equipment
The BOM have invested heavily in digital technologies utilising funds that have been provided by the DES, fundraising and grand aid organised by our parent body. We have over 30 iPads, multiple sets of Lego robotics and Blue Bots (to teach coding) in addition to a new interactive whiteboard in each classroom. In 2024/25 the school is investing in a suite of chrome books for children to further develop their digital literacy skills and enhance their digital competencies.
With the roll out of the new maths curriculum the school has recently invested in a range of maths resources to provide our children with more engaging and meaningful experiences.
Our Classes

We cater for younger autistic learners in our ‘early intervention’ setting and a range of ages in our ‘mixed years autism class’. Both of these classes were added in 2022 and have enhanced our school making it a more inclusive and vibrant learning environment.
Our school is complemented by community involvement. Access to the community MUGA pitch and walking track at the rear of the school is enjoyed by all ages. We now have lots of space for playing various sports and outdoor activities.
